Replies and delivery receipts
Sendrelay is not affiliated with SMSGlobal or GoHighLevel.
Replies and delivery receipts both depend on settings in the SMSGlobal MXT portal, and both use addresses that are unique to your location. The app's Settings page shows the two values you need. This guide explains what each one does.
Which senders can receive replies
SMSGlobal only delivers inbound SMS for its own virtual and dedicated numbers. What happens to a reply depends on the sender you used:
| Sender | Where the reply goes |
|---|---|
| SMSGlobal virtual or dedicated number | Into the GoHighLevel conversation, if the number's inbound webhook is set |
| Verified external SIM or phone number | To that SIM's handset. SMSGlobal never sees the reply, so the app never receives it |
If replies in GoHighLevel matter to you, send from a virtual or dedicated number. There is no way for the app to receive a reply that was sent to a SIM's handset.
Set up inbound replies
Each virtual or dedicated number has its own inbound webhook setting in MXT:
- Copy the inbound webhook URL from the app's Settings page. The URL is unique to your location and contains a token, so treat it like a password.
- In MXT, open the settings for the number you send from and paste the URL into the number's inbound webhook field.
- Send a message to that number and reply to it. The reply should appear in the conversation in GoHighLevel.
Repeat this for every number you want replies from. The inbound URL is set per number, not per account.
Delivery receipts
A delivery receipt tells the app what happened to a message after SMSGlobal accepted it, for example whether the handset received it. SMSGlobal sends delivery receipts to one URL configured at account level in MXT, and receipts addressed to individual messages are not honored.
- Copy the delivery receipt URL from the app's Settings page. Like the inbound URL, it is unique to your location.
- In MXT, open your account's delivery receipt settings and paste the URL at account level.
Because the URL is account level, one MXT account serves one location's receipts. If you run several locations, use a separate SMSGlobal account per location, or accept that receipts mix.
The daily reconciliation
Delivery receipts speed up status updates, but they are not the source of truth. Once a day the app reads your SMSGlobal message log and advances every message's status to match it. A message whose receipt never arrived still gets its final status from the reconciliation, so statuses stay correct even when receipts are late, missing, or not configured yet.
